BBGIRLS are turning up the summer energy with their new single “BODY WAVE,” a bright, rhythm-driven comeback built for the hottest stretch of the season. “BODY WAVE” leans into the group’s summer-ready strengths while giving their sound a polished rhythmic edge. The track blends refreshing tropical synths with an intense Moombahton rhythm, while sophisticated brass elements add extra punch to the production. Minyoung, Eunji, and Yuna bring clear, powerful vocals into the mix, creating a contrast that evokes the shift between blazing sunshine and a cool breeze rolling in from the sea. It is a combination designed to hit differently in summer: energetic enough to keep the momentum high, but breezy enough to carry a distinctly seasonal feel.
The music video pushes that atmosphere even further. Set against an exotic resort swimming pool and a yacht sailing across blue waters, the three members appear in sporty beachwear while projecting the healthy, upbeat energy at the heart of the release. Bright colors and vivid summer imagery dominate the visual, with director BOK of video production company 815VIDEO taking charge of the project. The result is a glossy seasonal setting that matches the track’s refreshing character without losing the group’s confident presence.
There is also plenty happening beyond the trio. A wide-ranging cameo lineup adds a playful layer to the video, led by broadcaster Kwon Hyuk-soo and comedian Hong Sung-hyun. Bae Seul-gi, Kkwachu-hyung, Mac Daddy, Jamez, Jung Dae-jin, Park Won-sik, Moon Si-woon, and Choi Ji-myung also make appearances, filling the video with familiar faces and unexpected moments. The cameos help turn “BODY WAVE” into something bigger than a straightforward performance video, giving its resort setting the feel of a lively summer gathering.
Behind the scenes, however, “BODY WAVE” carries particular significance for BBBGIRLS. All three members actively participated in the planning and production process, giving the single a more personal connection to the artists themselves. Minyoung took on an especially broad role, contributing as a co-producer and lyricist while also participating in chorus sessions and personally helping secure the extensive cameo lineup. Eunji and Yuna were similarly involved, contributing to the process of assembling what the group considered the optimal staff lineup for the album. Rather than simply staying put within the traditional role of performers, the members stepped deeper into the creative process and took greater responsibility for shaping their comeback.
That hands-on approach reflects the latest chapter in a career defined by persistence and unexpected breakthroughs. Debuting in 2011, the group rose to wider prominence through the remarkable chart resurgence of “Rollin’,” becoming associated with an extraordinary reversal phenomenon and earning recognition as an “icon of hope.” Songs including “Rollin’” and “We Ride” helped establish the group as a major presence, while their story resonated with listeners far beyond the charts.
In 2024, BBGIRLS found a new home at their current agency, GLG, and continued their activities with the single “LOVE 2” and a remake of “Wish List.” Now, “BODY WAVE” arrives after an approximately 14-month gap with the members taking an active role in how the project was put together. From Minyoung putting pen to paper and helping lead production to Eunji and Yuna participating in the team-building process behind the release, the comeback shows a group increasingly involved in its own creative direction. With tropical synths, forceful rhythms and a music video drenched in summer color, BBBGIRLS have returned ready to ride another wave.
